Some New Omnia 2 Videos

Another great video by Silencer22, this time it is about the new touchwiz interface. It is good enough except for the loading of widgets and message box.

Some Bugs/Problems with Omnia 2

Reading some post in PPCSG Forum, I saw a list of problem of the new Omnia 2. Note that some of the problem here are already solved (for some they think it is already "solved") you can read it here.

Here is the list: (quoted from ekin101 and koh)
1) Automatic backlight sensor too sensitive. Noticeable when i was reading my ebook. Had to disable now as it's not as useful compared to omnia 1.
2) Faulty Samsung calender notes
3) Give us good samsung threaded SMS. Hopefully can see something like tf3d type. Don't like Microsoft default threaded sms.
4) Remove sms sent notification. (they said it is annoying)
5) Optimize speed for touchwiz2.0.. the widgets loads too slowly.
6) Make use of cube light for notification such as missed calls and sms unread? Cube again?
7) Anyway to notify us that the battery is fully charged beside looking at the screen?
8) SMS landscape mode changes too slowly.
9) Aleast WM office should have landscape mode. Or better, allow us to choose which software can auto rotate.
10) LED torch? where is it?
11) heard there is a compass function like iphone? (but no app)
12) Allows widgets to load third party software if users wants. like calender load pocket informant, or sms loads SMSchat.
13) Cannot edit contact information using the default windows mobiles contact. Changes will not be saved. Can only use phone book by Samsung.
14) Name search is too slow using the Samsung Phonebook.
15) Issues with bluetooth stability when connected up to the Garmin Nuvi 765. Causes the Nuvi 765 to "hang"

*
I heard that Touchwiz 2.0 make the phone slow especially the SMS (Not really slow but slower compare it when you disable the touchwiz interface). Hopefully Samsung will fix this problems in the near future.

A Digital Compass on Omnia 2?

Posted from PPCSG Forum, silencer22, a member of the forum, has discover some secret apps including the digital compass. It is not really the "Application" but rather just a test application, but still this means that Omnia 2 (i8000) is capable of having a Compass.

"i discovered some hidden apps under windows directory these r for testing purposes
-lcdtest

-proxtestmode

-touchtest

-compasstestmode (a compass! but the needle get stuck sometime)"

Samsung Omnia 2 Preview

I know it kind of old but as far as Video Preview, this is Video Preview here is the longest preview until now. I am still waiting for a longer review. You can also check the preview of GSM Arena here.

I can't wait to get this phone! Lucky Singaporeans, I hope someone will give us a good review!

Note that Silver trimming around the Omnia 2 has been change by Samsung into Black.

No Threaded View in SMS By Default in Omnia 2

As claimed by the people who already got the phone, there is no threaded view on SMS on Omnia 2 by default but you can enable it since it is WinMo 6.1

To enable it, you need a registry editor (you can google it). I really don't know why they disable it but anyway, at least it can be change.

Samsung Omnia 2 Release Date

The most awaited Samsung Omnia i8000 is finally here! I mean, it is finally there in the Singapore starting July 18, Some stores in the Singapore will start selling the phone for RRP 898 Singaporean Dollars! (around 620 USD)

No More Symbian Phones For Me

I had enough, My first ever smartphone was a Symbian until now I still got my N82. Symbian is great but it just not enough for me. I am now moving to a new OS, and no not to WINMO I just heard a lot bad feedback about that OS, I am now moving to ANDROID.

Android, Huh? Why? Android is the Open Source OS for Smartphones. I like android because of its User Interface, Symbian is not good at this one. I am moving to Android meaning, no more i8910 for me. I felt like if I will buy that phone it will be "just another phone" for me because it is just the same with my N82! I know, I know, the 8mp is there, the HD Video recording is there (I'm glad they already fix it) but do I really need it? Like for example, what do I do with my n82 now? like most of us, after a year or two, we are just using the basic features of the phone mainly calling, SMS, Mailing and sometimes listing to some of our Mp3s. So I ask my self, do I really need to upgrade my phone? and of course my answer is still yes but will I buy another phone that look exactly the same with my Phone? NO! So I decided to go for Android, at least I got a new Interface!

Yes, I know. I already said that I going to WinMO, but when I saw Android it is just like, "Is my phone made in 80's?" Android UI is really great! Especially the one in the HTC HERO. HTC's Sense UI in Android is just look so Amazing. Here you can watch the Preview of the phone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaFH0vI2w1A

HTC Hero is a very good phone and I like the motto of some android users saying "Android, there is an app for that". Android is a very young OS so of course it lacks something, but Android app developers are there to help you! For Example, the latest version of android which is Android 1.5 still can't send file via Bluetooth but there is a solution there is an app calles BlueX which allow you to send and receive files via Bluetooth! Here you can find some of the apps: http://www.androlib.com/. Some people says that the start of the True Android OS is 2.0 and it is great because I can just update my phone when ever that version of Android is out (Which you cannot do with Symbian I think)

So there, as you can see, I am going to get HTC HERO when ever it will be available here in our country. I am now officially closing this Blog, Goodbye Guys! Enjoy your I8910! =D
